Iowa Dominates, Resolutions

The Hawkeyes took it to the Cocks and the Ol' Ball Coach. Shonn Greene led Iowa to a 31-10 victory over South Carolina. Afterward, Greene said he would skip his senior season and enter next year's NFL draft.

It's not inconceivable that Greene could be playing for his current Iowa coach in the pros.

While watching this game (I basically went in and out of slumber, as I'm fighting the affects of a flu bug today), I noticed several things that I would like the NCAA football powers resolve to rid for the 2009-10 season.

1. Please stop using the term, "flat out" anything. I thought this term was overused last year. While we're at it, don't let Lee Corso speak. I think I heard him say the phrase, "He can flat out... (coach, run, cover, kick, throw, etc.)" at least a dozen times the past couple of days. Other people use it too, but Corso is the biggest offender.

2. Don't allow a team to kick a field goal if they are half-way through the 4th quarter and they trail the other team by more than 20 points. Maybe they could penalize the team by taking away a time out, or disallow an onside kick on the ensuing kick-off. With about 3 minutes left in the game, Spurrier called a time out; kicked a field goal and followed that up with an onside kick (where he sacrificed his kicker, that guy was lit up!) - all of this while trailing by 24 points.

It's not that I'm not a Spurrier fan, I just think he thinks he's bigger than the team, imho.

This Leader Board is through the Iowa win. I'll probably get one more done before I fall asleep for good today.

Happy New Year!

~ Max
