Will Post Entire Leader Board This Evening

I'll post the entire Leader Board after I get home later. That way, everyone can see how they did (I'm assuming there were a few sidebets among the contestants ;-)

There it is, in all its glory. Congratulations to the Winners. Speaking of winners, they won't be paid until (I won't name names yet, but there are a couple of people who keep saying, "I'll pay when I see you..." blah, blah) all entries have been received. Seriously, next year - this won't be allowed to happen - your sheet will be deleted. Silly.

33 Down and 1 To Go

I know, technically the GMAC Bowl isn't over (but, trust me, it's over) Tulsa's David Johnson just threw his third touchdown pass of the game to match the three TD runs by Tarrion Adams (along with his 192 yards) - making the score 45-13 with just over 10 minutes left in the game.

So, like we expected, it's all going to come down to the Gators and the Sooners.

Enjoy the game and if you're in the money - place your hedges ;-)

Updating This Evening

Hey everyone. I fell asleep well before the completion of the Fiesta Bowl, so I didn't get a chance to calculate and update the standings. I'll do that this evening.

OK, it's up there now.

What's In It For The Winners?

It's hard to believe that we only started this a few weeks ago. On December the 14th, we sent out the email with the official entry form. That email contained the pay-out info. In case you've misplaced it, here is what it said:

1st place: 65%
2nd place: 25%
3rd place: 10%- 100
4th place: your entry back (100)

Any ties will split the money associated with those places. For example, if there is a two-way tie for 1st, the two first place finishers would split the combined prize for first and second (although, according to the projected scenarios, I don't believe there are any ties to be had this year - no matter what happens in the final three games).

Scenarios For Final Three Games

Please note: These are UNOFFICIAL.

I have worked out the various scenarios for the final point totals based upon the outcomes of the last three games. I've only done the calculations based upon the Top 10 in terms of potential - AND I performed all of the calculations in my head. So, there could be a mistake or two. But, I think this is a fairly accurate projection of who will finish in the money depending on which teams cover the final games.

Obviously, I'll continue to update the Leader Board using the formulae built into the Excel spreadsheet - and any mistakes in the projections (if there are any) will be discovered then. Enjoy!

Go Texas, Tulsa and Oklahoma!!!

~ Max
NOTE: After looking further, if Texas wins a couple other people might have a shot at the money. I'll post new scenarios after tomorrow night's Fiesta Bowl.

Time For Projections

Before the sun goes down tomorrow, I'll have full scenarios posted. If you are still up, and want to see where you stand now, I've posted the Top 10 in terms of potential.

Nice Comeback UConn

I missed the entire second half of this game, but can't wait to catch the replays on ESPN later. I'm sure this was a heck of a game. I only know that UConn trailed at the half by a score of 20-17 and the final was 38-20.

I'm busy playing board games with my daughter and watching the Colts vs. Bolts game right now, but tomorrow I'll post the various scenarios for our pool. So we know who is in the money depending on which teams win the next three games.
I may not be in the money, but I've done better than in years past, so I guess this is what they call a moral victory ;-)

Five Turnovers...So Far???

I'm calling a conspiracy right now in the International Bowl. I believe that Buffalo must have stolen all of the napkins from UConn's breakfast tables, they obviously still have butter from their bagels all over their hands. The Huskies have fumbled the ball 5 times! And there is still 4:45 left in the first half. OMG!

Oh, can you tell which team I have my Second Bet on?

Sweet Sugar, Utes Hold Off Bama

Kyle Whittingham had his team ready to prove their point. The Utah defense did a fantastic job by holding 'Bama to 17 points. The Tide scored as few as 17 only one time this season.
This was the game between the teams with the shiny, red helmets. Utah got off to a quick start by scoring 21 unanswered first quarter points. The Alabama Crimson Tide, 10.5 point favorites, made it a game though by closing the gap to 4 points at the start of the 3rd quarter and trailed by 11 with 5:30 to go in the game, only to lose a fumble near their own 35 yard line.

The camera shots of Saban pacing the sideline were too many to count, but he couldn't get his offense to hold off the quicker and more assertive defense of the Utah Utes. We knew it was over when they started showing more shots of the Utah cheerleaders than the pacing Nick Saban (and seriously, who is going to complain about that ;-).

Utah ends up as the only undefeated team this season at 13-0. This is the first time they've beaten a team from the SEC.
There are four games left. DShapiro2 has taken the lead for now, he'll likely hold it if Florida beats Oklahoma by 4 points or more.

Kentucky Upends ECU

So far the minority is 2 for 2; and it's looking like it will end up a 3 for 3 day. As I post this update The Runnin' Utes are dismantling the Crimson Tide and lead 14 to zip.

Kentucky played a great game and I'm surprised they won, considering all the calls seemed to go the Pirates' way.

Ole Miss Upsets Texas Tech

This has to be the biggest upset so far in our pool. Five people had Texas Tech as their Second Bet, so a total of 15 points were lost on the gimmick pick for this game. Here's the latest Leader Board.

~ Max

Best Bets and Second Bets

So far we've had 64 (out of a possible 105) of the gimmick games played. We've managed to gain an extra 37 points from those games - not a very good showing ;-) The grid shows how we've done, green indicates a win, pink indicates a loss and yellow is a push.

After today's games, I'll be posting the scenarios for the final outcome of the pool based upon the last four games.

Lost Day

So this flu bug is really a bummer. I've slept about 30 hours out of the past 38. I'm not completely "with it" and for the life of me, can't figure out why I'm off on my Leader Board calculations, somewhere I think I'm giving one person an extra point somewhere, but can't find it. If someone can spot it, please let me know. UPDATE: I found my error and the Leader Board is now correct!

I'm going to try to eat some soup - maybe that will give me the strength I need to check the calculations and find my error. It really sucks, because I wanted to watch the USC vs. Penn State game - and slept through the whole thing (along with most of the other games yesterday!)

Iowa Dominates, Resolutions

The Hawkeyes took it to the Cocks and the Ol' Ball Coach. Shonn Greene led Iowa to a 31-10 victory over South Carolina. Afterward, Greene said he would skip his senior season and enter next year's NFL draft.

It's not inconceivable that Greene could be playing for his current Iowa coach in the pros.

While watching this game (I basically went in and out of slumber, as I'm fighting the affects of a flu bug today), I noticed several things that I would like the NCAA football powers resolve to rid for the 2009-10 season.

1. Please stop using the term, "flat out" anything. I thought this term was overused last year. While we're at it, don't let Lee Corso speak. I think I heard him say the phrase, "He can flat out... (coach, run, cover, kick, throw, etc.)" at least a dozen times the past couple of days. Other people use it too, but Corso is the biggest offender.

2. Don't allow a team to kick a field goal if they are half-way through the 4th quarter and they trail the other team by more than 20 points. Maybe they could penalize the team by taking away a time out, or disallow an onside kick on the ensuing kick-off. With about 3 minutes left in the game, Spurrier called a time out; kicked a field goal and followed that up with an onside kick (where he sacrificed his kicker, that guy was lit up!) - all of this while trailing by 24 points.

It's not that I'm not a Spurrier fan, I just think he thinks he's bigger than the team, imho.

This Leader Board is through the Iowa win. I'll probably get one more done before I fall asleep for good today.

Happy New Year!
